apitula are chapter-houses of a sponsoring conventum. Lex Hermei generally treats members of capitula as if they are members of the sponsoring conventum. A capitulum may be registered separately with Domus Merceris, however, and therefore may be established at some distance from the sponsoring conventum. Most capitula register with the same Tribunal as the sponsoring conventum, although exceptions do exist. Capitula may be founded for a variety of reasons. Some are founded to take advantage of a mystical aura at a specific location, others are founded to guard vis sites or other resources, or simply to allow magi to pursue individual goals away from their conventum. A capitulum without resident magi is called a colonia, and is not typically registered with Domus Merceris. Porta Germaniae established a colonia, Casa della Quercia, in Bologna in 1252 AD. As no magi reside there, it is not registered with Domus Merceris.
