Crucibulum Caloris Exacti
CrIg (Pe) | 25 | Touch | Conc | Ind
An enchanted stoneware crucible which maintains whatever substance it contains at a constant temperature; which temperature can be increased or decreased by two command words. The device can be activated up to six times each day (increasing or decreasing temperature does not require activation), and can be deactivated on command.
Base 4, +1 Touch, +1 Conc, Maintains Concentration, 6/day Facultas Aurae +4 (two pawn rating), +3 usable in Aura 3+ |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Facultas Aurae, invented by Horace Bonisagi (ab Luctatio, Tribunalis Romae), are a new type of lesser enchanted device, similar to charged items in that no vis is required. However, these items only function in a magical Aura of a certain strength, and are somewhat more difficult to enchant than standard lesser enchanted devices. There are three significant limits to this sort of device: 1) The device must be created as a Lesser Enchantment. Invested Devices have never been successfully created using this approach. 2) The device effect level is increased proportionately to the amount of vis that would otherwise be required (a minimum of 2 levels per pawn of vis that would have been required: i.e. 2 levels are added for every 10 levels of enchantment or part thereof). These additional levels are not counted as part of the functional enchantment effect level (i.e. add up all other costs for the enchantment first, then apply this rule to that sub-total). 3) Additional effect levels must be added if the enchantment is to function in an Aura of less than Magic 6+. Use the following table to determine the additional levels:
