ythic Middle East comprises the cultures and settings of the lands of Islam for Ars Magica, 5th Edition. For the Bohemian Rhapsody the region of the Mythic Middle East includes lands from North Africa and Egypt in the west to Transoxiana in the east.
The Mythic Middle East, as viewed by the mostly Christian peoples of Mythic Europe, is "a distant and strange place, home to all manner of monsters, spirits, sorcerers, and kings - full of great wonders for those who are brave enough to seek them out" (The Cradle and the Crescent, 8). Thus, in many respects, the Mythic Middle East is a more "magical" place than Mythic Europe. It is a region where one can purchase goods from jinn in the local bazaar, and where wonderous goods from distant lands are almost common. Some of the feel of the Mythic Middle East is inspired by tales such as those in The Thousand and One Nights, combined with historical medieval figures and events.
