dale sits in a large semicircular draw on the southern slope of Grindslow Knoll. A large stone hall is surrounded by several barns and enclosures where herds of fine horses are kept. To outward appearances, Edale is a large and prosperous horse breeding ranch.

Behind the ranch, however, a magically excavated tunnel climbs back and forth inside the mountain, emptying out onto a wide terrace high above the ranch. The magi have their sancta here on the high terrace, built with the aid of Gralam's Terram magic.

Maerwynn and her filius Fyrmyn are attempting to breed horses that are unaffected by The Gift. Although offspring of Maerwynn's familiaris Gueri have on occasion manifested the desired immunity, they have so far been unsuccessful in breeding true. Fyrmyn's wife Masse Jerbitonis is preparing to bond Rhaebus, her magical horse, as familiaris; offspring between Rhaebus and Gueri's offspring show promise; all of his foals so far seem unaffected by The Gift. Time will tell whether their offspring will breed true.

Edale welcomes visitors, although accomodations are rustic.
