eritel occupies a picturesque headland south of Portofino, on the Ligurian coast southeast of Genoa. Founded in the late ninth century by Lucian Bonisagi Trianomae, Feritel is primarily a research conventum. Access to Feritel is by boat through the harbor at Portofino; the conventum maintains a warehouse and several small vessels in Genoa, and several piers on the south side of Portofino harbor. Citrus odors compete with fish and sea air as one ascends the path from Portofino harbor to the conventum, sancta for which are built on terraces on the eastern-facing hillside, with ancillary buildings on hillsides to the south and north. Feritel operates a lighthouse on the southern promontory as a contribution to Portofino.
