alja means a place of refuge in Arabic, and it is an apt name for this conventum, which has become a place of refuge for many Muslim magi in Hispania, following several decades of repeated conquests by Christian kingdoms in Hispania. When it was founded in 1002, however, it was intended as a place of refuge for thousands of texts that might otherwise have perished in the purges that followed the Almorovid conquest of southern Iberia. Masid Ex Miscellanea is the youngest filius of Fakhir Ex Miscellanea, the founder of Malja. He has adapted to the changing times, and now in addition to securing valuable texts, Malja serves to preserve the tradition of Hermetic Sihr.
